In winter, we take time to reflect on what we want to leave behind and what to improve. We are dropping the Di2 road bike. We hope to come to agreements placing bikes with businesses in the National Harbor, Rosslyn and Downtown. This would be to copy the success of our agreement with Omni Shoreham Hotel in Woodley Park, near Adams Morgan and the Four Seasons in Georgetown. That would mean adding 35 bikes to our fleet. We also are looking to fund purchase of an electric van in time for March deliveries. There are many possibilities to fund raising. We want to take the most beneficial route to profitability. So, we are researching selling billboard advertisement on our 21 foot electric van, in hopes of achieving our goal before March.
In March, we expect to hire 3 people to help cover the metro area and online. We are currently searching for strong, smart, bike savvy citizens to work with us. Their responsibilities would be:
driving a commercial van,
lifting bikes overhead daily,
tracking deliveries in a timely manner,
receiving customer calls,
basic bike maintenance (like flat tires, pedal swap, saddle adjusting),
increasing rentals (with a commission for doing so),
charging the vehicle at designated stations,
posting occasionally on social media, emails, video calls & IM with mobile device (we supply),
working with other employees during group rental events.
UPDATE: We have 2 new staff members. Miles & Clarence. We also added 50 bikes for pick up at special locations around the city. However, we are still gathering funding for the van. Any early advertisers looking for a 21 foot mobile billboard to roll around the nation's capital, let us know!
